What Should I Pay Attention to When Taking My Dog Out?

If you travel a short distance, the basic supplies you prepare are similar to walking your dog every day. You only need to prepare a leash, collar or chest and back, a toilet, and a portable water dispenser. When your dog engages in heavy exercise, it is important to replenish water in a timely manner.

If your trip is far and requires accommodation outside, and you need to drive or take a ride, it is best to prepare a set of equipment for your dog to avoid getting sick due to the changing outdoor climate and other conditions.

In addition to the above supplies, first prepare car mats, aviation suitcases, backpacks, and motion sickness medicine.

Then there is the dog jacket, which is actually the common form of pet clothing we see, but the fabric used is the same waterproof fabric as the jacket we wear, so that when it rains, the vast majority of the dog’s body will not be soaked by the rain. The evaporation of water takes away heat, so the main purpose of this is actually to keep warm.

If climbing a mountain, you also need to use dog hiking shoes and paw protection equipment. The main purpose of dog hiking shoes is to keep their paws warm, which is particularly important in winter.

It should be noted that although animals are much firmer than humans, if the winter temperature is particularly low, especially at high altitudes, dogs other than those living in cold areas such as sled dogs are prone to frostbite, especially at the ends of their limbs, which are their paws, and it does not affect their ability to walk in the snow. Then there is the dog backpack and water bottle. When taking your pet out, you need to carry extra dog food and water for the dog to drink. With a dog backpack, although the capacity is not large, the dogs can basically afford their own food and drink. If they still have swimming, they can bring a water absorbing towel!

If you want to stay outside, try to buy a tent with a large entrance, so that your dog can easily get sick if the weather changes at night. With these equipment, your trip with your dog must be very enjoyable.

Why You Should Pay Attention While Walking Your Dog
Paying attention helps you protect your dog

Even if a walk seems routine to you, it’ s unlikely that you have the power to single-handedly dog-proof the outdoors. Dogs have famously poor judgment about which foods they can eat, and, at times, what even is food. Just because an item is small and a dog could eat it quickly doesn’t mean that it will be harmless.

Taking your dog out to play may require different supplies depending on the situation.

Advice for gaining a dogs focus whilst out walking?

Sometimes, I will walk my dog outside and try to train my dog in some ways.

Let’s take a look at how to teach a dog to focus on you outside: Pack your dog up and try again in 5 mins. If he ignores a trained cue again, pack him up for the day; try again tomorrow.

Normally in training my dog responds very well to treats however we are currently undergoing lead training outside.

The biggest issue is I struggle to get my dogs focus outside where there all kinds of smells and distractions, treats don’t always work and he is too overstimulated by the environment and other dogs in order to listen, make eye contact or take a treat let alone listen to his heel command, something he is quite good at in a controlled environment.

Any tips on gaining and keeping my dogs focus when the treats and praise don’t work?
